For more than 30 years, our unique Early Childhood Jewish Education program has provided a high quality, safe, nurturing, inclusive environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional, spiritual and cognitive development of children. At the same time we foster a positive Jewish identity and help each child develop an appreciation of their Jewish heritage. In addition, we offer a Reggio inspired developmentally appropriate curriculum for young children.
Our experienced and nurturing staff helps each child adjust to the separation between home and school. Each staff member is selected based on a love of children, education, and experience. All teachers are college graduates with a degree in education and/or experience in the field of early childhood education. Our staff participates yearly in ongoing educational training to enhance their individual strengths and effectiveness with children.
We believe that parent involvement has a strong positve effect on the later success of children. We encourage parents to participate in our school and strive to form close ties in support of the development and education of their children. Frequent communications are sent home, and parents are constantly informed of their child’s progress, milestones, and daily activities. Our Parent Committee meets monthly and is involved with all aspects of the school, as well as fundraising activities.
Har Shalom ECEC is approved by the Maryland State Department of Education, accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and commended by the Partnership for Jewish Life and Learning (PJLL). We include children with special needs and we accept children of all races, creeds and national origins.
